The Skipper Expos have gone from strength to strength due their popularity with exhibitors and visitors from Ireland and beyond. The success of the Irish Skipper Expo has led to the creation in 2011 of the Scottish Skipper Expo, which is held at the new P & J Live exhibition arena in Aberdeen. Mara Media publishes the widely respected ‘The Skipper’ magazine, a monthly publication for the Irish and UK fishing industries. The show was founded by Mara Media, a publishing and event management company based in Annagry in Co. There is an excellent road network to UL, which is located just off the M7, and Shannon Airport is only 35 kilometres from the show venue, from where there is an excellent range of scheduled flights. The venue offers many other benefits, including onsite catering and bar facilities, its ease of accessibility and excellent car parking facilities. A large outside display area located adjacent to the visitor entrance offers an opportunity to showcase much larger products and boats. UL Sport Arena, based in the grounds of the University of Limerick, holds all the exhibitors in one spacious hall, enabling more and even bigger stands, providing a much better overall visitor experience. Galway, the success of the event and its rapid expansion over the years has resulted in the show moving to the UL Sport Arena in Limerick in 2022 under the new name of Irish Skipper Expo. Now in its 17 th year, Irish Skipper Expo 2023 held in Limerick, is Ireland’s flagship fisheries show that attracts large numbers of exhibitors and visitors from all over the world.
